Frequently Asked Questions
What does Tinies Australia do?
It is very simple. We are here to help Australian childcarers find work in the UK.
Will Tinies be able to get me a job in the UK?
Nothing is guaranteed but we will certainly do our best. Tinies has more branches and more jobs than any other agency in the so wherever you want to work we should be able to help. The Tinies Australia branch will be able to answer any and all queries you may have.
So what is the process?
Get in touch with Fiona as soon as you decide to go to England. Fiona will register your details and make sure that all your references have been checked before you arrive in the UK. This means that even before you arrive there are people working at finding you the right job.
What do I need?
The best thing to do is make contact with Fiona directly either by phone, fax or email. To get a job working in childcare in the UK we will need to interview you in London. We will also need to check all your qualifications and speak to at least two referees who can vouch for your work as a child carer.
The following checklist should help:
- At least 2 references (or names and details of people whose children you have helped care for; college/course tutors who can talk about your work with children)
- Copies of all qualifications obtained
- Working or Ancestral Visa or British/EU Passport
- International Driving Licence
- Typed up CV (we can do this for you but the process is faster if it's already prepared)
- Australian Police check (can be obtained by contacting your local police station)
What will Tinies do for me - apart from help finding a job?
The important thing is that you arrive in the UK with some confidence about everything. We can help with: where are you going to live, how you meet other Antipodeans (not to mention other nannies), what you do on arrival, how to settle yourself in with Doctors and Banks etc.
Once you have registered with Tinies we will give you a special welcome pack including details of the best places to look for accommodation and the areas of London that we recommend. The pack also includes details of other Australians living and working in London and information on how to use the London Transport system to name but a few things.
What do I do when I arrive in London?
The best thing to do is come straight to our office which is on the way from Heathrow Airport. We can then meet you in person, talk you through your job requirements and help you settle in. We will also give you a copy of the latest edition of TNT magazine (the Antipodeans' bible of living in the UK) and answer any questions you may have.
I don't want to work in Central London
No problem - we have branches all over the South of England and if you want to work further a field we can also help. To see the different areas where we can place you please browse the website or ring us and ask about the different possibilities.
Tinies Australia is here to help you!
